Harper wants Canadians to stop .... Bob Rae?

The conservative party has just launched a new attack ad against Bob Rae, criticizing his record as premier of Ontario. Most politically tuned-in Canadians  have heard of the "Rae Days", especially anyone who has beef with the NDP. Conservative supporters in Ontario LOVE to talk about how Rae raised taxes, and how the number of welfare recipients rose at the time.

But hold on a second.... Bob Rae hasn't been Premier of Ontario for twelve years now, and these criticisms are not new. Furthermore, Bob Rae is only the interim leader of the third place Liberal party. The Liberals haven't even chosen their official replacement for Ignatieff yet.

So why is the Harper gang up to their old tricks and bullying the former Ontario premier? There is no upcoming federal election and the conservatives are enjoying their majority government. Even if there was an election called tomorrow, the NDP would be the most significant challenge at the moment.

The only reason I can think of is that they are threatened. Harper knows his party made some pretty illegal and sneaky moves in the last election. And guess what: the Liberals and NDP found out and they aren't going to let this one go. So, Harper wants to discredit both the history of the interim Liberal leader AND the NDP.

Here's the difference between Bob Rae and Harper. Rae is a man with the best intentions for the everyday Canadian. In the past, he's made some well-intended political decisions that turned out poorly. However, even in the latest attack ad they show a clip of Rae stating that he is happy to discuss his past decisions.

Harper on the other hand, prefers to deflect any questions about the suspicious and illegal actions his party is being accused of during the robocall scandal.

If Canadians can't see through this cheap shot at Rae, and realize that Harper is just trying to change the subject from the robocall scandal to, well, anything else, then clearly they are dumb enough to support Harper and his sneaky gang who potentially stole the last election.

The average Canadian REALLY needs to take 10 minutes out of their day and actually watch the news or pick up a newspaper (anything but the SUN counts). If they did, they would know that Harper has not only prorogued parliament in an effort to shutdown the inquiry into the treatment of Afghan detainees and kill over 30 bills, his government was found to be in contempt of parliament, and now potentially diverted voters to the wrong polling stations in order to twist the election further into his favour.

Please people just pay a little bit more attention and don't just vote for who your parents voted for! Think for yourself and get informed.
